Relaxing at Solomon’s Island

We progressed further north up the Chesapeake Bay after leaving St. Mary’s City to visit one of our favorite towns on the Bay: Solomons Island. In fact, Solomons is our most frequently visited cruising stop. We love walking the long island and checking out the old homes. Autumn is our favorite time of the year to visit, right when the air gets crisp.

Safe Harbor Zahnisers

We love the mooring field at Zahnisers and were able to use their beautiful, brand new restroom facilities. Seriously, these bathrooms felt fancy. There were seven (maybe eight?) private toilets with separate showers that felt luxurious. Truly a highlight of our stay there. The laundry facilities were updated as well and there’s a large boater’s lounge with additional toilets.

Dining

We had breakfast at our favorite restaurant on the island, Lotus Kitchen. We’ve been here many times, but finally tried a bacon/egg/cheese croissant, which was delicious. Our second morning there we got the quiche, our tried and true favorite (and the reason I learned how to make my own quiches on the boat). We always have dinner out at Lighthouse Restaurant, but decided to also try somewhere new. So glad we did! The Tiki Bar was fantastic. Outdoor seating in sand, surrounded by tiki statues, and palms gave us all the island feels. We enjoyed shrimp tacos and bacon-wrapped shrimp (the shrimp tacos being some of the best we’ve ever had) along with fruity frozen drinks.
