After two nights on the Ware River, we weighed anchor and headed toward Deltaville on the northeastern most portion of Virginia’s Middle Peninsula. After a glorious 32.9 nautical mile sail with light winds and a comfortable sea state, we arrived in Godfrey Bay, an anchorage we were already familiar with. Winds overnight were forecasted to come out of the west, so we knew we’d be properly protected in this location off the Piankatank River. (The last time we visited Godfrey Bay was in July 2021. It was our first stop on our cruise to the Northeast.)
We had this anchorage all to ourselves as well (a trend we hope will keep happening) and despite the heat, we enjoyed chicken hard tacos for dinner in the cockpit right at sunset. Mac and Joseph were excited to be stationary again, so we let them roam the decks to explore. They are appreciating their newfound freedom to explore the boat outside while at anchor (with supervision for safety, of course).
